| Andre Petterson , a
multi-media artist, was born in Rotterdam, Holland in 1950. Raised in
Saskatoon, Sask. where he lived and worked as a professional musician.
In 1969 he became interested in Art . Petterson relocated
to the West Coast in 1970 and continued working as both musician and artist
and eventually concentrated most of his efforts on making art.
Petterson has worked in various mediums such as wood, Fiberglas, metal, plastic; both in two and three dimensions. He has also created installations, performance, film and kinetic work involving his own music compositions, set design and choreography. Today his work is largely photo-based using photographs which he electronically alters. He then reworks them by cutting them and painting onto them to create large thematic two dimensional works on wood. Petterson has consistently exhibited in both private and public galleries since 1972 and his works are in collections internationally. Andre Petterson has had 26 Solo Exhibitions, 50 Group Exhibitions and has received awards, numerous reviews and has been featured in 15 catalogues. Petterson has also served on juries, given lectures and has donated his art to benefits. |
